About us

Our mission

We believe no human should be deprived of access to sufficient food and water. As society progresses, we must ensure we leave no one behind regarding fundamental human rights.

The Zero Hunger Coalition catalyses coordinated action to achieve zero hunger in the world by 2030 by bringing a broad range of stakeholders together and aligning them to science-based, high-impact actions.

Coalition Members

The Coalition is supported by 30 national governments, 24 civil society organisations and 11 multilateral organisations.

A flexible and lean facilitation mechanism, composed of an Advisory Group and Coordination Team, supports the work of the Zero Hunger Coalition.

 

Advisory Group

The Advisory Group is Chaired by Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki, Special Envoy for Food Systems at the African Union, and it is composed of a diverse and inclusive group, including governments, international organisations, civil society and private sector networks:

Coordination Team

The Coordination Team acts as the secretariat of the Coalition. Its role is to advise and coordinate implementation across countries and agencies. It is composed of representatives from The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Shamba Centre for Food & Climate and the ONU World Food Programme (WFP).

Collaboration with the Food Systems Hub

The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, hosted by FAO on behalf of the UN system, aims to stimulate and support action for SDGs-based food systems transformation towards 2030. The Coalition is an active member of the Hub's 'Ecosystem of Support' that brings together expertise and knowledge from diverse constituencies to support progress on national food systems transformation pathways and the SDGs implementation.
